The Carl Walther Ulm/Do PP Cal. 7.65 mm is a firearm manufactured by the historic Walther Arms company, which was established in 1886 by Carl Walther in Germany. PP stands for Polizeipistole, or Police Pistol, and it refers to a series of semi-automatic pistols developed by Walther.

Introduced in 1929, the Walther PP (Polizeipistole) is a blowback-operated semi-automatic pistol design that was initially made for law enforcement officials in Germany. However, due to its reliability and compact size, it quickly gained popularity among civilians as well.

The PP models are manufactured in .32 ACP (7.65mm), .380 ACP, .22 long rifle, and .25 ACP variants. The 7.65mm, also known as .32 Auto, was one of the most common variants of the model and it was appreciated because of its light recoil and decent accuracy.

The design of the Walther PP influenced many other pistols and was notably copied by the Soviet Makarov pistol. During the Second World War, the Walther PP and PPK (a slightly scaled-down version of the PP) were the preferred sidearms of many German officers.

In popular culture, the PPK version of this weapon gained worldwide recognition as the firearm carried by fictional spy James Bond.

Today, the PP series including the PP Cal. 7.65 mm continued to be manufactured and used around the globe due to its reliable and time-proven design. The Walther company operates out of the city of Ulm, hence the Ulm/Do designation – Do stands for Donau, the German name for the river Danube which flows through Ulm.
